Life Soundtrack: A Song in My Head

Lean on Me performed by the Glee Cast

I was so addicted to Glee during its first season and of course, I loved their renditions of classic songs. I’m not watching Glee anymore but I kinda feel sentimental when I hear songs from Season 1 because I used to play them on repeat back in 2010. During that time also, I got to talk to my old-time on-line friend then, Marte. He sounded like a lonely boy telling me his past experiences so I remember him everytime I listen to this song. In my head, I felt like I wanted to be there for him when he needs someone to talk to or just someone to comfort him. This song still plays in my head whenever I see him sad.

Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain, we all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there’s always tomorrow

Lean on me when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need somebody to lean on

Please, swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won’t let show

You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on
If there is a load
You have to bear that you can’t carry
I’m right up the road, I’ll share your load
If you just call me

I only like the first season. I stopped watching it during Season 3. One reason why I loved the show was they sing old songs and make them alive again by doing their own renditions of them. Now, they just usually sing the latest popular songs.
